Today is International Data Privacy Day.
After a marital or common-law separation, it's
important to change all of your passwords on email accounts, social media and banking. Make the
new passwords something that can't be guessed by a former loved one. Ensure
your Google or Apple accounts aren't synced with devices that are accessible to
an ex or your children. Be careful with what you post on line and check for
social media friends or followers who may be sharing your information without
your knowledge. Put a passcode on your phone and check it for Spyware. Look at
your Bluetooth pairings to see if your phone may be operated from a vehicle you
no longer have. Turn off location trackers on social media apps.
Private information is being gathered in these
ways every day. It's not only an issue of personal safety and dignity but also it can be admissible in court.
